The Green Card Lottery for 2006 is well under way. Submissions began on October 5th and are scheduled to end on December 4th. Once the submission period ends, the State Department will take a few months to sort through the millions of applications submitted, finally conducting the actual drawing of winners in April 2006.

Usavis.org has already begun to submit applications. To check if your application has been submitted, login to your account and check your registration status on the right. If your application was submitted, your status for this year will say "Submitted". If it hasn't been submitted yet, it most likely will be in the next two weeks or so.

Winners will receive a winning notification to the postal address listed on their application within three months by the State Department. However, applicants who won through Usavis.org receive the added service of being notified by email, phone or fax - we'll make sure you know you've won wherever you are.
